Nathan Sussex (Hopcyn)

 

Playing the part of Hopcyn we welcome Nathan Sussex as one of our lead characters.

 

Nathan is known for playing football coach - Buster Smith in Hollyoaks on Channel 4, for which he won Villain of the Year at the 2019 British Soap awards.

 

Nathan was part of the critically acclaimed Break the Silence Storyline for over a year which was also nominated for Best Storyline. Other TV work has been episodes of Casualty, Doctors,  Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Torchwood & Da Vinci’s Demons.

 

Nathan’s film credits include the BAFTA winning film NADGER and also played the role of Ioan in the critically acclaimed feature film Last Summer.

 

Nathan has also stepped into the world of radio and regularly co-hosts with Carol Vorderman on her Saturday Morning Radio Show for BBC Radio Wales.

Lynn Hunter (Storyteller)

 

Playing the part of the old woman we are delighted to have Lynne Hunter as one of our lead characters.

 

Born in Merthyr Tydfil Lynn trained at the Birmingham school of speech training and dramatic art. Film credits include Jurassic World. "Dominion" release date 2022. The Personal History of David Copperfield. Ms Peregrine s Home for peculiar Children, Submarine, Brian &Charles. Arthur's Dyke, Very Annie Mary. Restoration. House.

 

TV credits include. Casualty, Doctors, Holby City, The end of the fu***** world. Cucumber,Banana, Roald & Beatrix, The Tuckers, The Trouble with Maggie Cole, Pobol-Y- Cwm and The Crown.

 

Theatre credits include work at The Sherman, Theatre Clwyd, Watermill at Newbury, Hampstead, Torch, Wales millennium Centre and the National Theatre.

Charlie Thould (Jackie Bach)

 

Twelve-year-old Charlie is excited to be playing the part of Jackie.

 

Charlie’s credits include numerous short films, most notably playing the lead in the short film A Dead Canary, which won Best Short Film based in Wales at the International Film Festival of Wales. He has also filmed TV Commercials and a documentary.

 

Charlie also enjoys musical theatre work having played the lead role of Jeremy in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the Bristol Hippodrome, Oliver in Oliver and Kurt in the Sound of Music.

 

He has performed in numerous shows in Cardiff New Theatre and is a member of Orbit Theatre School Cardiff. Charlie loves acting, is dedicated and works extremely hard. He is studying towards his Grade 5 LAMDA Acting and Musical Theatre exam.

 

In his spare time, he enjoys riding his bike, running and tap dancing but is incredibly excited to be part of this fantastic production.

William Kenyon

 

William is seven years old and attends The Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts and is a member of The Torch Youth Theatre. He started modelling from a very early age and has played the lead in several theatrical productions with his drama school, including Barnum in The Greatest Showman and Harry Potter. 

 

William made his film debut at the age of 4 playing a young pirate in the comedy 'A Pirate's Life For Me!' He also starred in the highly acclaimed 2019 Christmas advertisement for Gower Fresh Christmas Trees and was part of the Mcdonalds/Football Association of Wales Grassroots Campaign.

Sebastian Kenyon (Young Jackie)

 

Playing our "young" mudlark and at only 2 years old Sebastian already has several credits to his name.

Sebastian starred in the 2020 feature film 'The Eastern Front: The Point of No Return'. 

 

He is a professional young model and has appeared in several advertising campaigns. 

 

When not working in front of the cameras, Sebastian loves spending time with his animals and dancing.

Aneirin Hughes (Shemi)

 

After gaining a BMus degree at Aberystwyth Aneirin went on to study post graduate at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. He has worked with Scottish Opera, Opera 80 ENO and Glyndebourne.

 

Following that, Shakespeare at the Old Vic, Sondheim at The National, Pushkin at The Nottingham Playhouse and Friel at Hampstead Theatre.

 

With a long list of Film and TV credits such as Drovers Gold, Harper And Isles and Summer In The Suburbs through to Spooks, Judge John Deed, Young Dracula, Consenting Adults, Pentalar, EastEnders, Casualty, Holby City, Doctors, Pobol Y Cwm, Hinterland as well as a bit on the cobbles in Coronation Street.

Holly Kenyon (Hopcyn's Wife)

 

Originally training at The London College of Music in Musical Theatre, Holly left the world of song and dance behind her after she won a scholarship to study at The American Music and Dramatic Academy in central Hollywood. After completing her training Holly returned to the UK where she has worked as an actress and producer ever since.

 

Previous film credits include Beatrice in 'The Kindness of Strangers', Celyn Bowen in the horror 'Untitled' and Evelyn Hamilton in the forthcoming 'Enter The Cage'. Other work includes TV commercials such as Activia and leading roles in films including WWII spy drama 'Cuckoo', gritty Western 'Dark Country' and the period drama 'Passing The Bridle'.

 

Holly also played Synthia in the film noir drama 'The Eleveth Hour'; a role that saw her nominated for Best Actress at a Los Angeles film awards.

Vern Griffiths (Tavern Goer)

 

A South Wales native, Vern has been a performer for over 25 years.

 

He has toured the world as an actor playing everything from an Elvis-obsessed House Fly to Macbeth, as well as appearing in a number of episodes of Stella (SKY One), Tourist Trap (BBC Wales) and many BBC Radio Wales sitcoms.

 

An award- winning stand-up comedian, he regularly performs as his character, Julian D'Angelo, South Wales' Leading Psychic Phenom.

 

Post COVID, Vern is very much looking forward to resuming his role as the Dame at The Grand Pavillion, Porthcawl, where he has performed in panto for over a decade.
